ORIGIN: ServantSong was formed in May of 2003, when Dave Gawron, Melissa (Carpentier) Roberts, Catie Noury, and Bill Lincourt decided to combine their talents into one outlet.
Dave Gawron, who covers bass, keyboards, guitar, and vocals for the band, besides songwriting, leadership, and management, began his music ministry career as a Franciscan University student in Austria and Steubenville, Ohio, in 1995. He has since ministered in North Carolina and the Archdiocese of Washington. Dave led several Young Adult events, masses, holy hours, and concerts in the D.C. area before moving up to Woonsocket, Rhode Island, in 1999.
Dave led the All Saints Community youth in praise once per month from 2002 to 2005. He has ministered events locally, including several in conjunction with Mike Tellier and the St. Agatha's/Precious Blood youth choir. He has ventured as far as Sandwich, Massachusetts, for events for the Diocese of Fall River, as well as some Youth 2000 New England activities.
Dave has sung in several environments, including musical theatre, covering bass, baritone, and tenor ranges. He has played guitar and keyboards for over 15 years and also enjoys percussion. He lists Rich Mullins, John Michael Talbot, The Waiting, and Third Day as some of his many influences.
Melissa (Carpentier) Roberts, ServantSong's lead female singer, has studied voice with Lisa Alves and Don St. Jean and has been playing flute for over 10 years. She has sung with her mother, Donna Carpentier, at St. Agatha's in Woonsocket and St. Theresa's in Pawtucket. She joined Tatiana (Nationally recognized Catholic Music Artist) on her 2002 and 2003 Lenten Tour (I Thirst) and did so again in December of 2004 for Advent and February of 2005 for Lent.
Mark David Johnson, keyboards -- an established Minister of Music since 1998 -- is now completing his Bachelor of Sacred Music degree. Since graduating from Cranston High School East in 2001, Mark has worked extensively with three local congregations in implementing successful Praise and Worship gatherings, and has attended many Worship Leadership workshops. Mark has released several solo albums, most of which feature proceeds to local charities, and is currently completing "Ruah," his first Christian recording. In the future, Mark plans to enter seminary to become a Lutheran pastor. In his spare time, he enjoys web design, drinking too much coffee, programming in VisualBasic, and building model cars.
Donna Carpentier plays rhythm acoustic guitar and supplies beautiful back-up vocals. On the side, she ministers masses and weddings in different parts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Marc Goulet plays drums. He is the band's newest member, joining in December of 2006. He has many years of experiece, playing for bands in all different venues over the years.
Damon Blair plays lead guitar. He started out playing bass, but switched when Jake went off to college at Franciscan U. He is the stud muffin of the band. Everybody loves his guitar playing, and the girls go ga-ga over his boyish good looks and charming smile.
Stefanie Mahon on violin, Jacob Archambault on bass and lead guitar, Maurice Larivee on drums, Bill Lincourt on guitar and bass, Catie Noury on vocals, Diane Saia on vocals, Amy Carpentier on vocals, Charlotte Lincourt on vocals, C'Sondra Brabham on vocals, Kristen Keach on vocals, and Rebecca Bilodeau on keyboard and vocals, Sarah Harpin on keyboard and vocals, and Faithe Cotnoir on violin and vocals have all played with the band at one point or another before we settled on our current six members in 2006.
